Victorian Christmas Open House at the Historic Price House
Looking for fun things to do in Pismo Beach this holiday season? Locals and visitors alike can celebrate in style at the Historic Price House’s 3rd Annual Victorian Christmas Open House.
Where and When?
The Victorian Christmas Open House will occur this year on December 8th from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM. For those unfamiliar with the Price House, it is located at 100 Rancho Pismo Drive in Pismo Beach.
Fundraiser to Support Restoration and Preservation
This annual fundraiser offers fun for the whole family. Entrance costs just $25.00 per ticket, and children under the age of 14 can get in free with an adult. Expect lavish decorations and delicious, Victorian-style refreshments at this unique event.
The money guests spend on tickets will go to a good cause as each year the fundraiser’s earnings go to support the ongoing restoration and preservation of the Price House. Caretakers have made plenty of changes this past year and the Victorian Christmas Open House offers the perfect chance for both last year’s attendees and those who are new to this recent tradition to see what’s new.
The John Price House
John Price was the founder of beautiful Pismo Beach. His historic home was finished in 1894, making it the oldest building in the city. The two-story home was constructed in a vernacular style, featuring a gable roof, a decorative wood porch and window sills, and other Victorian influences.
Price originally built the house as a gift for his wife to commemorate their anniversary, which explains its alternative moniker, The Price Anniversary House. He lived in the home until his death in 1902. On November 3rd, 1988, the Price House was officially deemed a historic building and added to the National Register of Historic Places.
To celebrate Pismo Beach’s unique historical character with residents hailing from its beautiful ocean view properties to its charismatic downtown area, the Price House creates a rich cultural experience that will appeal to anyone. This is the third year the property’s managers have put on their unique holiday celebration. It is sponsored by the Pismo Coast Village RV Resort.
What to Expect this Year
In addition to “Tea Time” refreshments crafted carefully from Victorian recipes and historically accurate Christmas decorations, visitors can also get in a festive mood by listening to Victorian Christmas carols and other period-appropriate seasonal events. Join the city’s Mayor and other City Council members to enjoy everything the Price House has to offer.
Guests are welcome, though not required, to wear their favorite Victorian costumes. There will be plenty of photo opportunities for those who do.
